All-day sun, uninterrupted coastal views
This West Coast project is a perfect example of how a vision, great design, and careful craftsmanship can transform a home.
Originally, the site had an incredible position — all-day sun, uninterrupted coastal views, and close connection to family and community — but the existing home no longer suited our clients’ lifestyle. They wanted to keep the parts of the house they loved, while reimagining and expanding it to create a modern home that would serve them for years to come.
Working with O’Neil Architecture, we undertook a complex restructure and complete rebuild. The result is a striking 480sqm home with more than 700sqm of roof area. Strong rooflines, expansive windows, and a blend of cedar, plaster, and stone cladding in soft, natural tones give the home a modern yet timeless presence that feels right at home on the coast.
Inside, the design delivers both functionality and comfort. The home features split living with a private master wing and a welcoming guest wing, allowing visitors to feel right at home. The expansive kitchen and living areas flow seamlessly into large, covered outdoor spaces — perfect for entertaining and designed to handle the heavy West Coast rainfall without compromising lifestyle.
The interiors, created in collaboration with Modi Design and our clients, are beautifully executed. Oak panelling, natural stone, solid timber flooring, and warm, layered finishes create a clean yet inviting atmosphere. Every detail has been considered to deliver a space that is both elegant and homely.
For our team, this was a rewarding challenge. The remote location and scale of the build required precise project management, careful planning, and a shared vision between the build teams, the design team, and the clients. Delivered on time and within budget, the finished home is a true masterpiece — and one we’re proud to have brought to life.
